The Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, has stated that religious scholars are the most essential partners in upholding Islamic unity within the Maldives. The Minister made these remarks during the opening ceremony of the “Scholars’ Conference 2026.”

A total of 101 scholars are participating in this two-day forum, which primarily focuses on discussions regarding Islamic Da’wah in the 21st century. Highlighting that the government’s policy is centered on governance aligned with Islamic principles, the Minister emphasized the significant role scholars play in human resource development within the religious sector and in preserving the nation’s Islamic identity and solidarity. This event marks the resumption of a series of conferences that have returned after a five-year hiatus.
