Under the newly established Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between Türkiye and the Maldives, arrangements have been made to import machinery and equipment essential for the food and beverage industry duty-free. This agreement facilitates the import of 404 types of goods at zero tariff. Notably, equipment required for cafés and restaurants, which previously incurred duties ranging from 10% to 20%, will now be exempt from such charges.

This initiative is expected to significantly lower the investment and operational costs for restaurants, guesthouses, and resorts seeking high-quality, modern amenities. Furthermore, the duty exemptions extending to goods required for the agricultural, fisheries, and creative industries will yield substantial economic benefits for both businesses and the general public.
