
As of July 16th this year, state revenue from resort land rents has reached MVR 1.1 billion, marking an 8.4% increase compared to the same period last year. Currently, there are 179 operational resorts in the Maldives with a total capacity of 45,115 beds, catering to 72.9% of all tourists visiting the country. Furthermore, to bolster investor confidence and attract large-scale capital, the government has introduced amendments to the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Act, specifically targeting investments exceeding USD 500 million.
