To ensure the uninterrupted availability of essential pharmaceuticals within the Maldivian healthcare system, the Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has announced the implementation of the revised mandatory medicines list for pharmacies. The list is categorized into two distinct grades; accordingly, every pharmacy is required to maintain a minimum stock level of 80% of the medicines specified for its respective grade.

Existing pharmacies have been granted a six-month transition period to comply with these new requirements. Furthermore, operating licenses for newly established pharmacies will only be issued upon verification that the mandatory stock of medicines is available. Comprehensive guidelines regarding this regulation can be accessed on the official websites of the MFDA and the Ministry of Health.
