Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has announced the disbursement of MVR 11.3 million to fishermen for 568 metric tonnes of fish weighed during the month of June. Within this period, a total of 517 fishing vessels conducted transactions with the company, comprising 484.4 metric tonnes of skipjack tuna alongside various sizes of yellowfin tuna.
Aligning with the government’s key policy to ensure fair pricing and guarantee payments to fishermen within 48 hours of their catch being weighed, MIFCO has now adjusted its purchase rates to range between MVR 20 and MVR 25 per kilogram.
