His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed have graced the historic ceremony held to commemorate the Maldives’ first-ever national-level Girl Guide Day.
The ceremony highlighted the pivotal role of the Girl Guide movement in empowering young women and fostering essential life skills. During the event, awards and badges were presented to leaders who have achieved distinguished success across various fields. Furthermore, the “Community Service Tool Kit” and the official annual magazine were launched, and special recognition was accorded to guides who secured prestigious international awards.
The Girl Guide movement, which has been active in the Maldives since 1951, currently boasts a membership of over 14,000. This year’s celebration holds significant historical importance as it marks the first time the day has been observed as a national occasion following its official designation by President Dr. Muizzu.
