Dhiraagu has initiated the process of appointing a new Chief Executive Officer following the decision of its CEO and Managing Director, Ismail Rasheed, to retire after more than 40 years of dedicated service to the company. In line with this transition, Waldemar Figueredo, an international telecommunications veteran with 30 years of experience, has been appointed as the CEO-Designate.

Ismail Rasheed has been a pivotal figure since the company’s inception, playing a leading role in the development of the Maldives’ digital infrastructure and overseeing key projects, including the expansion of mobile networks and submarine cable systems. The incoming CEO, Waldemar, will formally assume his responsibilities upon the completion of a seamless transition period alongside Ismail Rasheed. Dhiraagu has assured that this leadership change will not disrupt the company’s strategic goals or its ongoing operations.
