The Minister of Construction and Infrastructure, Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, has announced that the modernization of Majeedhee Magu, Kanbaa Aisa Rani Hingun, and the access roads to the Villimalé Hospital will be prioritized under the Malé and Villimalé road development project.

Funded by a grant from the Chinese government, this project is strategically designed to provide a permanent solution to the persistent issues of urban flooding and traffic congestion in the capital city. The Minister further noted that the project is currently in the surveying and detailed design phase, with physical construction expected to commence in late 2024 or early 2025.

During a site visit, which included the participation of the Chinese Ambassador, it was highlighted that this project—while technically challenging—stands as a significant symbol of the enduring bilateral relations between the Maldives and China.
