Small Businesses to Connect with Global Markets via “Maldives 2.0”: President

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has underscored the pivotal role of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Maldivian economy, announcing that the “Maldives 2.0” strategy will provide these businesses with essential financial support and access to international markets. As part of this initiative, the government aims to establish cultural centers and creator hubs, while introducing digital financing solutions to empower entrepreneurs. Furthermore, the President highlighted that the administration will facilitate the entry of local products into the global marketplace through partnerships with major platforms such as Alibaba and PayPal. Reaffirming the government’s commitment to inclusive growth, the President designated 2026 and 2027 as dedicated years for SME development, ensuring that opportunities are accessible to all citizens.
