The Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development has announced that a total of 58,505 applications were received by the deadline for the government’s “Housing for All” policy. This includes 35,930 applications for flats and 22,575 applications for housing plots. Under this initiative, the government has decided to allocate 15,000 plots and 7,900 flats within the Greater Malé Region.
These opportunities are distributed among Malé residents, individuals from other atolls residing in the capital, and persons with disabilities. Recent amendments to the eligibility criteria have broadened the scope, allowing a larger segment of the population to apply. The government is currently overseeing the construction of flats under this project and is in the process of seeking contractors for further housing developments.
