Discussions aimed at advancing the defense partnership between the Maldives and Japan were held during a high-level meeting between the Maldivian Ambassador to Japan, His Excellency Ahmed Mahloof, and Japan’s State Minister of Defense, His Excellency Masahisa Miyazaki. During the meeting, both parties highlighted the strategic cooperation provided by the Maldives to Japanese military aircraft and deliberated on further strengthening ties in maritime security and disaster management. As the two nations approach the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, this engagement marks a significant step toward fostering a more robust and trust-based defense partnership.
