
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the government’s policies aimed at curbing gang-related crimes and the scourge of narcotics are producing positive outcomes. Notably, 1,294 kilograms of drugs have been seized within the past two and a half years, marking a significant advancement compared to previous terms. Furthermore, the President highlighted that, under the current administration, there have been no fatalities resulting from gang violence. To impose stricter penalties on drug traffickers, legislative amendments have been implemented to introduce the death penalty for individuals smuggling narcotics exceeding a specified threshold. The President’s objective is to safeguard the youth from such harmful habits and to build a peaceful society.
