By presidential decree, the import and medicinal use of Methylphenidate for the treatment of ADHD has been officially authorized in the Maldives. Previously prohibited under the Narcotic Drugs Act, the availability of this medication was facilitated following consultations with the National Drug Control Council and the Cabinet, and with the formal consent of the People’s Majlis. This significant decision ensures that individuals living with ADHD can now access essential treatment conveniently within the nation’s legal framework.
