More than 500 participants have registered for a high-level economic forum scheduled to take place in Addu City from October 13th to 14th, aimed at accelerating the city’s economic growth. According to the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, the primary objective of this forum is to identify strategic incentives for Addu’s development between 2027 and 2029, while providing a platform to address the concerns of the local business community.

The forum will focus on key sectors, including tourism, fisheries, and agriculture, bringing together senior government officials and industry experts. The Minister further noted that this initiative is being conducted as a pilot project; if this economic model proves successful in Addu, the government intends to replicate and introduce similar frameworks across other regions of the Maldives.
