The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has appealed to former high-ranking state officials to exercise wisdom and discretion when addressing matters concerning the Maldives’ foreign policy and external relations. Underscoring the “Maldives First” policy as a responsible framework that prioritizes national sovereignty and interests while adhering to international law, the Ministry affirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining strong ties with its development partners.
The statement further noted that because certain views expressed by those who have held high office could lead to unfavorable outcomes, such discourse should be rooted in factual accuracy and foster national unity. The government remains dedicated to upholding the nation’s dignity and long-term interests while fostering robust international partnerships.
