Thalassemia Center to introduce its first Maldivian Hematologist services this June

Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem, CEO of the Male’ City Group of Hospitals, has announced that services under the supervision of a Maldivian hematologist will commence at the Thalassemia Center this June. As part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to enhance medical care for thalassemia patients, on-call services for pediatrics and internal medicine are also scheduled to begin within the next ten days.

Furthermore, Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) to ensure blood safety is slated to begin in July, while liver fibrosis scanning services are expected to be introduced later this year. The CEO also highlighted plans to launch a dedicated awareness framework for thalassemia control and a digital registry for blood donors within the year. These initiatives represent significant steps toward expanding the Thalassemia Center’s capabilities and aligning its services with international standards.
