The Government has decided to relocate one of the three towers being developed under the 300-housing unit project in Villingili. This decision was made with the primary objective of environmental conservation, specifically to avoid felling the large “Funa” (Alexandrian Laurel) trees located at the original site. Minister Dr. Abdulla Mutthalib highlighted that despite the challenges posed by the scarcity of land for housing, the government prioritizes executing projects in a manner that ensures minimal impact on the environment.

The project, which involves the construction of 17-story towers, has been contracted to Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) and is slated for completion by 2028. This initiative is part of a major housing development program being undertaken in the Greater Male’ Area by a subsidiary of the Bank of Maldives.
