The government has officially arranged for fishing vessels to procure fuel at the State Trading Organization (STO) shed rates, effective from tomorrow. Under this initiative, vessels registered with the ‘Fahi Hakatha’ program will be eligible to purchase fuel at subsidized prices from various regions across the Maldives.
This measure aims to provide much-needed relief to boat owners who have faced operational difficulties due to rising fuel costs, while simultaneously addressing the recent scarcity of fish products in the local market. It is anticipated that this strategic move will enhance productivity within the fisheries sector and significantly alleviate the challenges currently faced by the fishing community.
