President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that, following the results of the recent referendum, the government has no intention of introducing any further amendments to the Constitution beyond the ones already made public.
During a press conference held at the President’s Office, the President noted that the outcome of the referendum clearly demonstrates that the public is not in favor of broad constitutional changes. However, he clarified that significant reforms previously planned—such as the restructuring of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) and the determination of a fixed number of parliamentary seats—will continue as scheduled.
Reflecting on the referendum regarding the synchronization of elections, in which 69 percent of voters opposed the change, the President pointed out that the government’s setback in this vote was primarily due to the campaign team’s inability to conduct a sufficiently effective outreach effort.
