Minister of Finance, Moosa Zameer, has announced that 93% of the state employee pay harmonization process has been finalized. Speaking at a press conference held at the President’s Office, the Minister stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has issued directives to expedite the remaining 7% of the initiative, ensuring the entire process is concluded shortly.

Under this new pay framework, over 20,000 employees are expected to receive positive salary adjustments. The Ministry of Finance has further assured that in instances where an employee’s salary might decrease during the transition to the new system, a “migration allowance” will be provided to bridge the difference. The primary objectives of this reform are to reduce dependency on overtime, optimize the utilization of official working hours, and enhance the overall standard of living for civil servants.
