The Elections Commission (EC) has officially announced the final results for the local council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections, confirming that the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) has taken the lead by securing a total of 584 seats. The main opposition, the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), followed with 563 seats. These final standings were confirmed after run-off elections were held yesterday to resolve several tied positions. While the PNC achieved its highest number of wins in the WDC category, their overall success includes the election of council presidents, council members, and various city council seats.
