The Minister of Defence, Honorable Hassan Rasheed, hails from a distinguished and service-oriented family from Th. Vilufushi. His father, the late Ibrahim Rasheed (widely known as Rasheed Katheeb), was an exemplary figure who dedicated 39 years of service to the development and progress of the island. Furthermore, many members of Minister Hassan Rasheed’s family are prominent individuals who have made significant contributions to the Maldivian political and religious spheres.
Minister Hassan Rasheed attained his education at Male’ English School and further specialized in the fields of Leadership and Management. His career in national service began with the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). Notably, his exceptional bravery and commitment in defending the nation during the terrorist attack of November 3, 1988, remain a significant highlight of his military career. Following his service in the armed forces, he contributed to the business sector and has since served with distinction and integrity in various high-level government positions, including several roles as State Minister.
