Government spending on subsidies reaches 2.7 billion

According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Finance, the state has expended over MVR 2.7 billion on grants and subsidies by early April this year. This represents an 8 percent increase compared to the same period last year. While subsidy expenditures have risen, spending on the national health insurance scheme, Aasandha, has declined by 28 percent, with MVR 436.7 million utilized thus far. Additionally, expenses related to medical assistance have seen a significant decrease of 45 percent. Conversely, grants allocated to local councils have increased compared to the previous year, totaling MVR 634.8 million.
