First Quarter: Green Tax Revenue Increases by 39%

During the first three months of this year, the state’s revenue from Green Tax rose to 735 million Rufiyaa, marking a 39 percent increase compared to the same period last year. This tax, which is levied to fund various environmental protection projects, is scheduled for a rate increase starting in January of next year as per the government’s decision. With over 700,000 tourist arrivals recorded so far this year, the revenue generated from this tax is primarily utilized for essential environmental initiatives, including island water and sewerage systems, as well as coastal protection projects.
