With the acquisition of 230 heavy-duty vehicles and specialized machinery, the Road Development Corporation (RDC) has announced its decision to prioritize the road construction projects in Gulhifalhu. This fleet, procured in collaboration with a Chinese firm, includes four state-of-the-art mobile asphalt plants designed for efficient transportation between islands. Beyond the Gulhifalhu project, this equipment will be deployed to accelerate ongoing infrastructure developments across various islands. In alignment with the President’s strategic vision, the primary objective of this acquisition is to minimize the substantial costs associated with renting heavy machinery for state projects while simultaneously expediting the pace of national infrastructure development. Furthermore, plans are underway to establish a specialized service and maintenance center within the Maldives to ensure the long-term upkeep of these assets.
