
The Speaker of the Parliament, Honorable Abdul Raheem Abdulla, has cast his vote in the ongoing elections to elect city mayors and council members, as well as the referendum to determine public opinion on holding presidential and parliamentary elections concurrently on a single day.
The Speaker cast his ballot at the polling station designated for the residents of L. Fonadhoo. A total of 294,876 individuals are eligible to vote in today’s elections.
For these elections, three types of ballot papers have been printed. This includes 297,959 ballots for the local council elections, 292,706 ballots for the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections, and 298,180 ballots for the public referendum.
According to the Elections Commission, a grand total of 888,845 ballot papers were printed for these electoral processes.
Polling began this morning at 8:00 AM and is scheduled to continue until 4:00 PM today.
