In a move to compensate tenants for the finishing works of the Hiyaa flats, the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced a rent waiver for the next two years. In alignment with President Dr. Muizzu’s pledge, a discount of MVR 200,000 has been allocated to each unit, which will be offset against the remaining rent.
As a result, tenants are exempt from paying the monthly rent of MVR 3,984 for the upcoming two-year period. However, a monthly maintenance fee of MVR 1,000 will still be applicable. Furthermore, the government has waived all accumulated fines on rent payments up until December of last year.
