According to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Finance, the state generated a total of MVR 649.1 million from airport taxes and fees within the first two months of this year. This marks a significant 15.9 percent increase compared to the corresponding period last year.
The total revenue includes MVR 331.4 million collected as Departure Tax and MVR 317.7 million as Airport Development Fee (ADF). While both categories showed a growth in revenue compared to the previous year, these fees are levied on passengers departing from the Maldives. It is noted that exemptions from these taxes are granted to diplomats, transit passengers, and children under the age of two.
