The physical construction of the ice plant in M. Veyvah has officially commenced. Initiated by the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources through MIFCO, this project is designed to provide fishermen in the region with convenient and reliable access to ice.
Currently, foundation work is underway for the facility, which will feature a daily production capacity of 60 metric tons and a storage capacity of 100 metric tons. This development is expected to provide significant logistical relief and support to the local fishing community.
The project, which is contracted to be completed within 240 days, represents a key component of the government’s strategic efforts to enhance the nation’s fisheries infrastructure and foster the sustainable growth of the industry.
