The Elections Commission (EC) anticipates a significant increase in voter participation for the Local Council Elections and the national referendum scheduled for April 4th. EC President Mohamed Zahid stated that the referendum, which seeks public opinion on synchronizing presidential and parliamentary elections, is a matter of great public importance and is likely to encourage more citizens to head to the polls.
To raise public awareness, the Commission is conducting an extensive outreach campaign through various media platforms, including podcasts and informational leaflets. Furthermore, the EC has recruited over 6,000 election officials, all of whom have now completed their specialized training programs across the country.
