New Radiant Sports Club secured a win in their opening match of the FAM Veterans Cup 2026, defeating Club The Grande with a 2-0 scoreline. This Group A encounter featured several former stars who have previously excelled for New Radiant.
New Radiant dominated the first half of the match, with Ali Umar scoring the opening goal in the 15th minute. Their lead was further extended just three minutes later, in the 18th minute, thanks to a goal by Ahmed Niyaz. New Radiant’s captain, Ahmed Mohamed, was named the player of the match for his influential performance.
While New Radiant’s momentum slowed in the second half, Club The Grande created several significant scoring opportunities but failed to convert them. In addition to these two teams, Group A of this 10-team tournament includes Muiveyo Friends Club, ViliMale United, and Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC).
