Reports indicate that the United States military is preparing to launch a military campaign against Iran that could span several weeks, should President Donald Trump issue the command for an assault. This information was disclosed by two U.S. officials who spoke to the press on the condition of anonymity. According to these sources, analysts warn that the escalating tensions between the United States and Iran could deteriorate into an unprecedented large-scale conflict. Despite representatives from both nations meeting in Oman last week to discuss Iran’s nuclear program, the U.S. has significantly bolstered its military presence in the Middle East. This deployment includes the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, with additional plans underway to deploy another carrier strike group, a substantial number of troops, combat aircraft, and guided-missile destroyers to the region.

Speaking at a military base in North Carolina, President Trump remarked that reaching an agreement with Iran is proving to be “difficult.” He further stated, “sometimes, to resolve matters, what is actually required is a sense of fear.” U.S. sources noted that the military operation currently being planned would be far more extensive than the strikes conducted against Iran last year. While previous operations specifically targeted facilities associated with Iran’s nuclear program, officials indicated that the current plans involve strikes against Iranian state infrastructure and broader military installations.

Political analysts believe that initiating a prolonged military operation against Iran poses a significant risk to the United States, primarily due to Iran’s extensive and sophisticated missile program. U.S. officials acknowledge that any strike on Iran would almost certainly provoke a retaliatory response. Iran’s powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has already issued warnings of such retaliation. It is anticipated that Iranian counter-attacks would target U.S. military bases established across the Middle East and the Gulf region, including those located in Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Turkey.
