The government has commenced the bulk procurement and stockpiling of armor stones to expedite ongoing infrastructure development projects across all inhabited islands and to minimize costs. In the Presidential Address, it was highlighted that more than 400 projects are currently being executed to establish essential services. These initiatives encompass harbor construction, coastal protection, road development, and extensive water and sewerage projects. A key objective of the administration is to ensure that water and sanitation services are provided to all islands within the next 18 months. To further accelerate these efforts, the procurement of necessary machinery via the Road Development Corporation (RDC) has been contracted to a Chinese firm. With the arrival of this equipment expected by the end of April, infrastructure works in both the atolls and the Greater Malé area are set to progress at a rapid pace.
