The Maldives Innovation and Digital Company (MINDCO) and the Bank of Maldives (BML) have signed a landmark agreement to establish an AI and Data Competency Centre in the Maldives. This national initiative is a key component of the President’s ‘Maldives 2.0’ Digital Transformation Agenda, aimed at streamlining government administration and integrating Artificial Intelligence and data-driven solutions into public services.
The primary objective of this centre is to facilitate the secure adoption of AI within state institutions and to collaborate with the private sector in developing innovative technological solutions. While MINDCO leads this project, the Bank of Maldives joins as a strategic partner. Leveraging the bank’s extensive financial and digital expertise, the partnership will empower the government to make data-driven decisions and modernize service delivery. The practical operations of the centre are scheduled to commence this coming April.
