Mohamed Umair, the manager of the Maldives national futsal team, has extended his heartfelt thanks to the President of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM), Ahmed Tariq, for his instrumental role in paving the way for the Maldives to secure its first-ever SAFF Futsal Championship title. Umair highlighted that the appointment of a foreign head coach and the provision of a specialized training camp in China under Tariq’s leadership were the primary catalysts for the team’s historic achievement. The Maldives emerged as champions of the seven-nation tournament by winning every match played. This success reflects the association’s significant efforts to advance futsal, a sport that had previously lacked sufficient attention and development.
