The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has finalized the selection of 37 eligible couples to receive financial assistance for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment under the inaugural phase of the Fertility Care Fund. This opportunity, which opened for applications in November last year, received a total of 135 applications. The selected beneficiaries are required to submit their detailed treatment plans by the 11th of this month to proceed with the process.
To qualify for this assistance, applicants must fulfill several key requirements, including a minimum of three years of marriage and a formal recommendation from medical specialists confirming the clinical necessity of the treatment. This initiative follows previous government efforts where 100 couples were provided assistance for IVF through Aasandha across two separate rounds. Furthermore, the establishment of a dedicated Fertility Center in the Maldives has already led to the successful birth of two children. Currently, many individuals are accessing these vital fertility services both within the country and abroad through government-sponsored programs.
