The Ministry of Finance has announced that the Ramadan allowance for the year 1447 AH will be disbursed to government employees on March 12.

The Ministry has issued a financial circular detailing the procedures for government offices to follow regarding the distribution of these funds.

In accordance with the 4th amendment to the Employment Act, every Muslim employee is entitled to a fixed Ramadan allowance of MVR 3,000.

The Ministry of Finance has specified that employees holding more than one salaried position should only receive the allowance from their primary place of employment. Secondary employers are instructed not to issue the allowance to such individuals.

Employees who are on paid leave (such as scholarship students) or unpaid leave during the start of Ramadan are not eligible for the allowance. However, if an employee returns to duty during the month of Ramadan, they will receive a prorated amount calculated from the date of their return until the end of the month.

Government offices have been instructed by the Ministry to upload and post the necessary payment details to the Public Accounting System by March 10.

According to the calendar, the month of Ramadan 1447 AH is expected to begin on Wednesday, March 18.
