Minister Dr. Abdulla Muththalib has stated that the upcoming fish cannery project in Fiyoaree will transform the island into the leading hub for employment opportunities within Huvadhu Atoll. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony for the island’s land reclamation and harbor development project, the Minister highlighted the existing economic challenges, noting the current lack of income-generating opportunities beyond government-sector employment.
He further remarked that this initiative would bolster the fisheries industry and encourage residents living elsewhere to return and resettle, ultimately establishing Fiyoaree as a prominent regional economic hub.
