The physical works for the expansion of the Maafaru International Airport terminal have officially moved forward, with the necessary machinery and materials now delivered to the site. This project, contracted to a Chinese firm, is valued at USD 3.6 million.
Under this development initiative, a new two-story structure will be constructed adjacent to the existing terminal, effectively doubling its overall capacity. The project, which is slated for completion within a ten-month timeframe, encompasses the expansion of the arrival hall and baggage handling systems. Furthermore, the upgraded facility will feature a premium lounge with a seating capacity for 60 passengers, along with four dedicated CIP lounges.
This expansion is a strategic infrastructure project aimed at enhancing the service quality and capacity of Maafaru International Airport, which currently serves a high volume of international flights and private jet operations.
