Shadi Al-Qawasmi Appointed as Managing Director of Ooredoo Maldives

Ooredoo Maldives has officially announced the appointment of Mr. Shadi Al-Qawasmi, a Palestinian national, as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. According to the company, Mr. Al-Qawasmi’s tenure officially commences today.

Mr. Al-Qawasmi brings over a decade of extensive leadership experience in telecommunications, strategy, and brand management. He joined the Ooredoo Group in 2015 and has since held several high-level executive positions, including Chief Commercial Officer and Sales Director at Ooredoo Palestine, as well as Head of Brand and Communications. Throughout his career, he has played a pivotal role in driving market expansion and spearheading the introduction of innovative technologies.

In terms of academic qualifications, Mr. Al-Qawasmi holds a Master’s degree in Marketing Management from EDHEC Business School in France and a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing Communications from Brigham Young University in the United States. Prior to his tenure at Ooredoo, he gained significant professional experience in management consulting and business development.

With this transition, Ooredoo Maldives expressed its profound gratitude to the outgoing Managing Director, Khalid Hassan Al-Hamadi, for his invaluable contributions. During Mr. Al-Hamadi’s leadership, the company achieved remarkable milestones, including extending 5G coverage to 80% of the Maldives, the successful deployment of the “PEACE” international submarine cable, and the inauguration of Ooredoo’s new corporate headquarters.

Welcoming the new Managing Director, Ooredoo Maldives expressed confidence that under Mr. Al-Qawasmi’s leadership, the company will reach new heights and continue to play a transformative role in shaping the digital future of the Maldives.
