Minister Dr. Abdulla Muththalib stated that the initiative to connect the four southern atolls by air marks a revolutionary transformation in the Maldives’ transportation system. Highlighting this as a pilot project launched under the President’s vision, the Minister emphasized that the Maldives requires a system of frequent, small-scale flights rather than a reliance on larger aircraft. He further noted that the significantly lower costs associated with developing the shorter runways needed for such operations are a major advantage. According to Maldivian, these flight operations will not only facilitate easier travel for the public and enhance access to education and healthcare, but will also drive substantial growth in the southern tourism industry.
