
The Ministry of Tourism has officially opened bidding for the development and operation of 50-room tourist hotels in HA. Baarah and Sh. Funadhoo. Under this initiative, 71,832 square meters of land from Baarah and 3 hectares of land from Funadhoo will be leased for a 50-year period, with a requirement to complete the projects within 24 months.
The bidding process is open to both local and international investors, and the deadline for proposal submission is March 31. These projects are part of the government’s efforts to fulfill the President’s pledge to promote sustainable eco-tourism, aimed at creating employment opportunities and enhancing local income within the islands.
