Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta stated that Manchester United secured their victory against league leaders Arsenal through two moments of individual brilliance. Despite the defeat, Arsenal remains at the top of the English Premier League with a four-point lead, while United occupies the fourth position with 38 points.
Reflecting on the match, Arteta noted that his team performed exceptionally well during the opening 30 minutes. “Then we essentially gifted them a goal, which shifted the momentum of the game. Due to our errors, our quality in possession began to decline. They then scored two goals that were moments of pure magic. Although we managed to equalize and get back into the contest, Matheus Cunha scored a superb goal following a long ball from a quick pass. We must congratulate Manchester United,” Arteta remarked.
Despite missing the opportunity to extend their lead to seven points, Arteta emphasized that continuous winning is not always possible in football. He stressed that the priority now is to rectify their mistakes and focus on the upcoming matches.
Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard added that every match must be approached with the intensity of a final, noting that this performance highlighted areas where the team needs improvement. “We must elevate our game. We started the match strongly, but conceding a soft goal affected our morale. These challenges are inevitable over the course of a long league season,” Ødegaard said.
