President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the nation and its citizens require representatives who are committed to cooperating with the government’s development agenda. The President made these remarks during a special campaign event held by the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) yesterday afternoon. He emphasized that the efforts to fulfill his pledges to the citizens are progressing at a rapid pace. Consequently, he noted that islands and cities need Mayors and Councilors who will support these initiatives rather than obstruct them.

The President cautioned that the pace of development would be hindered if individuals who intend to obstruct the government’s work are elected. He further highlighted that such figures would likely attempt to incite political instability, which is an outcome no citizen desires to witness. “Do not allow oppositional ideologies to drive a wedge between the people and the government. In the upcoming council elections, do not grant the opportunity for political games and disputes that create obstacles between the public and the administration. This government stands firmly with the people,” the President remarked.

Reflecting on his past experiences visiting households in Malé in various capacities, the President stated that he is intimately familiar with the living conditions of the citizens. Accordingly, he affirmed that the administration is working expeditiously to resolve the most significant challenge facing the public—the housing crisis. President Muizzu added that the ongoing work to reclaim land and hand over plots, which were previously allocated in lagoons by the former administration, is part of his commitment to fulfilling his promises. As these projects move forward, the President emphasized the need for sincere, honest, and trustworthy Mayors, Councilors, and members of Women’s Development Committees. He urged the public to elect such individuals in the upcoming elections.
