Velana International Airport (VIA) served a total of 8.28 million passengers in 2025, marking a 7% increase compared to the previous year. This figure includes 5.38 million international travelers, 1.17 million domestic passengers, and 1.73 million passengers who traveled via seaplane. Furthermore, air traffic movements saw an 8% growth, with the airport setting new records for the highest number of passenger movements in a single day. According to the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), this significant growth is a direct result of the flourishing tourism industry and enhanced operational efficiency at the airport.
