The Maldivian government has once again invited interested parties to provide helicopter services in the country, following strategic amendments to the existing regulations. These changes were implemented to address concerns previously raised by operators regarding certain restrictive requirements.

Under the revised framework, in addition to commercial operations, service providers are mandated to provide 50 hours of complimentary emergency medical services per month for the initial three years. However, the government will provide compensation for search and rescue operations.

Successful applicants will be granted a 10-year operating license. To qualify, proponents must possess a minimum of five years of experience and operate in partnership with a local Maldivian company. The deadline for proposal submission is set for March 25th. The selected parties are expected to sign the agreement in June, with an official service commencement deadline of no later than November 2027.
