The Maldives has secured the championship title in the inaugural SAFF Futsal Championship’s men’s division by defeating Bhutan. In the match played in Bangkok, the Maldives emerged victorious with a 3-1 scoreline. Despite Bhutan taking an early lead with the first goal, the Maldivian side staged a remarkable comeback to score three goals. The goals for the Maldives were netted by Abdulla Junaid (Jenne), Ahmed Hamid (Ammadey), and the team captain, Mohamed Imran (Inmi).

With five consecutive victories, the Maldives secured the trophy with 15 points and one match still remaining. This achievement marks the nation’s first-ever triumph in an international futsal tournament. As second-placed Pakistan cannot surpass the Maldives’ points total even with a win in their final match, the Maldives has officially guaranteed the gold medal. This victory stands as a historic and proud milestone in the history of Maldivian futsal.
