The United States has shared comprehensive plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, aiming to transform the territory into a modern development branded as “New Gaza.”

Following the cessation of intensive Zionist aggression in Gaza—which began on October 7, 2023, and was temporarily halted under a U.S.-led ceasefire agreement established on October 10 last year—further details of the development plan have emerged. Jared Kushner, son-in-law and former advisor to President Donald Trump, revealed these plans in Davos, Switzerland, following a ceremony officially inaugurating the Peace Board intended to oversee Gaza’s administration.

The U.S. proposal envisions the transformation of the war-torn region into a hub of high-rise residential towers, data centers, and beachfront resorts, drawing architectural inspiration from cities like Singapore and Dubai. This initiative is presented as part of the operational framework of the Peace Board responsible for Gaza’s governance. Kushner noted that initial efforts would commence in Rafah, an area currently under the complete control of Zionist forces.

However, the information disclosed by the U.S. leaves several critical questions unanswered. The proposal fails to specify the funding sources for the project, how housing will be secured for the thousands of displaced and vulnerable Gazans, or who will be recognized as the legal owners of the newly developed buildings and land. Furthermore, the plan does not outline a mechanism to compensate the people of Gaza or address these fundamental issues before reconstruction begins.

This is not the first time the U.S. has expressed a vision for Gaza as a modern tourist destination; the current proposal appears to align closely with previously suggested concepts.

While these reconstruction plans are being presented, Zionist forces continue to launch repeated attacks on Gaza in violation of the ceasefire agreement. Within the past 24 hours alone, five Palestinian citizens have been martyred in these ongoing assaults.

Following Kushner’s presentation, Ali Shaath, a Palestinian figure appointed by the U.S. to a leading role on the Peace Board, spoke via video link. He announced that the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt is scheduled to reopen within the coming week. The reopening of this crossing remains one of the primary conditions of the ceasefire agreement that has yet to be fully implemented.
