A political cartoon published by the “Adhadhu” news outlet has sparked widespread public outcry for featuring an illustration depicting the prostration (Sajdah) in prayer. Critics have condemned the depiction as an act of mockery toward Islam.
The Maldives Broadcasting Commission has launched an investigation into the matter, stating that the content is alleged to violate both Islamic principles and the established code of ethics for journalism. Consequently, the commission has ordered the news outlet to remove the cartoon immediately and to provide a formal response regarding the issue within five days.
