Under the government’s “Housing for All” policy, applications are now open for land plots and housing units. The deadline for land plot applications is set for March 4, while the deadline for flat applications is April 17. Through this project, the government aims to allocate 15,000 land plots and 7,900 flats across the Greater Male’ Area and RasMale’. Specific quotas have been designated for Male’ residents, individuals from other islands residing in Male’, and priority groups, including taxi drivers, fishermen, and tourism sector employees.
Applications must be submitted online via the “Hiyaavehi Portal.” Eligibility for this scheme is restricted to those who have resided in Male’ for at least 15 years. The evaluation criteria will prioritize the applicant’s income level and current living conditions. According to the Ministry of Housing, the allocation process for both land plots and flats is expected to commence within the current presidential term following the completion of the evaluation phase.
